The Sands Hotel: A Place In The Sun...

Ah, the legendary Sands Hotel, in that city of fortune and hedonism we call Las Vegas! This is the old Vegas of course, before the water parks and shopping malls. I bought this postcard at a flea market as a memento of a time we'll never see again..

It's the A & W Drive-In!

Another scan from my boxes of postcards. Mmmmm, I could totally dig a root-beer float right now...

James Brolin versus.... The Car!

One of my personal favorite Jaws inspired movies didn't take place anywhere near the water. Instead James Brolin fought to protect a small town from a seemingly indestructible demonic motor vehicle in a film simply called "The Car"...

The Car was designed by none other than the legendary "King of the Kustomizers" George Barris utilizing a highly modified 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III.

Get Your Shirley Maclaine & Richard Beymer Trading Cards...

I was going through some old stuff and found this inside a wallet that belonged to my mother...

A Shirley Maclaine (Circa The Apartment) and Richard Beymer trading cards? Where do I get the rest of the set?

I'll Miss Ricardo Montalban

Have you ever seen the early pilot attempt at a Wonder Woman TV series starring Cathy Lee Crosby? It's pretty terrible. But you know what's good about it? Ricardo Monteban is the main villain, and for the brief moments he's on screen, it's pretty damn awesome.

A little Monteban made a lot of things that should've been awful into great things. And when he was in something good, like when he played Khan in the Star Trek series, it was just about as good as it gets.

Ricardo Monteban, a true gentleman that's far too rare in this world. I'm going to miss him.
