Simply put, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is hands down one of the absolute most sublimely wonderful pieces of film ever made. Jacques Demy's modern take on opera, combined with the breathtaking Catherine Deneuve and the lush music of Michel Legrand, makes for an exquisitely beautiful piece of work.
My screencaps barely do the rich visuals of the film any justice, but here are a few moments of frozen perfection to ponder.
If you haven't already seen Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, do yourself a favor and watch this movie this weekend. You won't regret it.
